Jeff's Get Well Soon Card

I've made 2 of these. One for a wedding day and the other for an anniversary.

Shelf Card

I made this one from MCS Klever Construction CD.

Another of my cards

I made this one with Build a Flower and Hobbydots.

My poor neglected blog!

What a lazy blogger I've become! No excuses really and I'll try to do better.
Glad to say all's well with me and mine. Jeff's finally back to work this after breaking bones in his foot in June. He hasn't gone home yet though. Kenny and I must be looking after him too well. Paul has a job (yipee) and he and Kirsty will be moving into a lovely new house in Nov. Will I hear the patter of tiny paws soon?? :) Sarah's well, still working hard an living sober (the latter sometimes :D ) Kenny finally has a job too. It's only temporary but that's better than nothing and who knows what it could lead to. Kenny Jeff and I had a great holiday in Ibiza earlier this month but as usual I feel as I've never been away, ah well.
Believe it or not I'm still busy with my card making but haven't got round to uploading them on my blog yet........must do it soon. I've started parchment cards now too, something I've wanted to try for a long time. I'm quite pleased with my efforts so far, but I think it will be a long time until I'm an expert. I must make a start on my Christmas cards. I can't believe how close it's getting. My printer has been out of action but the spare part needed has arrived a day early, I'm impressed, so no excuse now to start them. I've also taken up cross stitching again so I have been busy.
Hopefully I'll be back here soon.
Take care. x

Update

Well not a lot to write. Life's been pretty quiet. I've not been out much recently. Partly due to the horrible weather we've had and having Jeff here because of his broken foot. We still don't know what's happening if he'll need another op or not. The doctor has decided to leave it for another fortnight. That will mean he'll have had a knee high cast on for 8 weeks. I feel so sorry for him. He must be bored out of his mind but he never complains even about the pain he still gets occassionally.
Thank goodnes for card making.

My latest cards

Here are photos of cards I've made this week. 3 of them will be sent as swaps to the card group I'm a member of.

Update

Well it's been awhile since I've updated my blog. So much has happened since Jeff had his accident and moved in with us. I'll miss him when he's able to go back to his own flat. I'll no doubt suffer from the empty nest syndrome again. The good news is, finally Paul has a job! Well done Paul we're so proud of you as usaul. The doctor is pleased with Jeff's progress. The stitches are out and the pins will be removed on the 21st. The not so good news is a friend had a slight stroke and a relative has sadly been diagnosed with alzheimers.
I've not had much time for card making with all that's been going on but I did manage to make a get well soon card for Jeff and a swap card for my card making group which I've uploaded here.
I've heard from Paul & Kirsty that the keepsake box I made delighted Emma and Matthew and that made my day. I've just started another one and hope it will be as well received.

Off to the wedding

Here's a photo of our daughter Sarah & son Jeff before they left for my nephews wedding today. Our other son Paul and our daughter-in-law Kirsty couldn't attend just not able to travel from Dubai. Kenny and I were so sad not to be able to attend either. Just hoping Jeff's careful of his newly broken foot. Get well soon Jeff and congratulations and best wishes Mike & Donna xx

Another wedding card

I was asked to make this card for my nephew and his partner who are finally getting married on Sunday. Let's hope the weather improves but if not I'm sure they'll have a wonderful day.

Keepsake Box

I've been busy making my first ever Keepsake Box. It was quite a challenge for me as my daughter-law-asked me to make one for a freind who's getting married next month. It was dificult as Kirsty is in Dubai and all my instructions and questions were done via email. After a lot of trial and error I'm deighted to say Kirsty loves it and if I had a market I would make them to sell.
I'm looking forward to my birthday tomorrow. Going with my family to the theatre to see We Will Rock You.

Wedding Card

Posted by Picasa

Have to say I'm proud of this one. The photo doesn't do it justice.

How to make a lace flower.

I've finished the wedding card which I'll put on later. I've decorated it with flowers, one of them I made with lace. I took a 6" piece of white lace stitched along the top with running stitch then pulled the thread to gather it. Then I stitched the two open ends together .......hey presto a flower. I added a gem to the centre. Really pretty and only took a minute.

Today

I've had a lovely lazy day.I needed it after shopping in town with Jeff & Kenny yesterday which I enjoyed. Spent most of my time just reading and getting ideas from some of the great blogs I follow. I also downloaded some really nice free digi stamps from some of the blogs. I have started a new card for my nephew and his future wife. They're getting married next month. I hope the sun shines for them on the day and for the rest of their lives together. Finally I got a lovely text from Emily to thank me for the birthday card I made her. She thought it was absolutely beautiful. That did wonders for my ego and confidence. Thanks Emily.

I'm back

I'm back now after eventually getting to Dubai. Imagine letting my passport expire! We had a great time with Paul and Kirsty just a pity about the humidity. It was so bad my glasses steamed up at times.
I've made a few more cards which I'll add here over the weekend. I also bought some Build A Blossom from La Pashe which I can't wait to do. I'll show them off when I've got round to making cards with them.

Update

I've really neglected my blog lately. I do have an excuse. I've been getting ready for our trip to Dubai to see our son & daughter-in-law. We should have been leaving today but unfortuately I stupidly forgot to check my passport until Fri. I was so shocked and surprised to find it was out of date. Never mind it should all be sorted out this week and a new flight has been arranged for next Sunday. I'll really need the holiday after all the stress of this weekend. Fingers crossed, no more hiccups.

A Tip Re Ribbon

Since I started making cards I've read or heard many helpful tips. I thought I'd share some and will from time to time. This is a tip if you're using ribbon that needs to be ironed. Instead of having to set up the ironing board and the iron it's so much quicker to heat up your hair straighteners and run the ribbon through them. Don't have the straighteners too hot though.

Finally............New crads to show you.........or even cards LOL sorry for the typo!!

It's been a few days since I've written here. I've been very busy making birthday and easter cards as well as two ATC's which are headed for New Zealand.  I've added some for you to see. I was pleased with my first attempt at colouring in my digi stamp card which I got from Birds Blog. She very kindly lets card makers use her stamps and backing papers, all free! I'm pleased too that I managed how to find out how to turn the flash off on my camera........much better photos now.

My first digi stamp card

Posted by Picasa

This is my first ever digital stamp card. The stamp was downloaded free from Birds Blog which you can go to by clicking the link for her blog at the bottom of my blog on the right hand side. I coloured the poppies using high quality colouring pencils I bought from W H Smiths. One day when I'm more confident I'll treat myself to Promarkers. I hear they're excellent.

ATC & Envelope

Posted by Picasa

This is one of two ATC's I made for a swap. The theme for this one was K and the other was Angel. They're now winging their way to New Zealand. I hope the lady likes them.

Easter Card

Posted by Picasa

One of quite a few Easter cards I've made. This one is decoupaged and the card is layered with pink mulberry paper and backing paper which the egg. I'll put more of my Easter cards on later.

Card made for 40th Birthday

Posted by Picasa

I'm really pleased with this decoupage card made for a male relative who's in the army. I find it difficult to come up with ideas for cards for men.

Birthday Card

Posted by Picasa

To make this card I used a tag and lovely paper which were free in one of my card making magazines. I backed the tag with mirri card added organza ribbon, a sentiment and hey presto!

Card made for an 85th birthday.

This card was made with an image I bought from Printable Heaven which I matted and layered then added a ribbon and a sentiment.
